Kootenay Coldsmoke Powderfest is an annual celebration of ski and snowboard culture. This grassroots flagship festival features clinics, competitions, and ski-themed arts and culture programming both in Nelson and at Whitewater.

In this 6 hour workshop, we will take a deep dive into the world of green wood spoon carving. We’ll cover all the skills you’ll need to go out into the woods identify, cut, cleave, axe, carve, and finish a beautiful and ergonomic piece of functional wooden ware.

Join me for a full series of classes starting in January. This series includes all of the classes I offer curated in order of progression at a discounted rate.

While Nelson is well known for its many heritage buildings, it has also lost many to fire and demolition. Local historian and author Greg Nesteroff visits the Nelson Museum on Sunday, February 23 at 1pm to present a fascinating slideshow that will look at 40 such structures and their stories, from the opera house to the Strathcona Hotel to the Kerr Apartments.

Artist trading cards are miniature works of art specifically made to be freely traded. Created on 2.5 x 3.5-inch card stock using any medium, ATCs encourage artistic experimentation, creativity, and community building rather than consumption.
