Drop in between 3:30 and 4:30 every Tuesday for CRAFTERNOON at the Nelson Public Library.
Crafts, LEGO, Ozobots, DatoDuo, STEAM stations & more! Every week is a bit different.

This is a six-part series reclaiming the art of turning towards loss in service of healing. In community, we can transmute the powerful energies of sorrow into good grief.

Fall into Fall FREE Thursday evenings
The Nelson Museum is open late on Thursdays and admission is FREE from 4-8pm. Explore the new gallery exhibitions — A Crack in the Mirror in Gallery A and Within This Earthen Vessel in Gallery B — discover the region’s history in the 2nd Floor Museum Exhibit, and shop work from over 120 local artists in the Gift Shop.

The days are shorter but the Nelson Museum is open longer! Thursdays from 4-8pm is FREE admission to the galleries, museum and Shop, where you can explore the newest exhibitions, learn about local history, and shop over 100 local artists!
Rangoli Workshop w/ Surya Sameera
Inspired by the current exhibitions Within This Earthen Vessel and A Crack in the Mirror at the Nelson Museum – join artist Surya Sameera for an evening of Rangoli making. Rangoli is an art form that originates from the Indian subcontinent, in which patterns are created on the floor or a tabletop. We will be creating take-home pieces for you to enjoy.

Meat & Prize Draws
Every Friday afternoon, the Nelson Royal Canadian Legion (402 Victoria Street – Stanley Street Entrance) holds meat & prize draws from 3 to 5 pm. There is also often a 50/50 draw. All proceeds to local charities. Please come out and join us in a great community cause.
Longest Night of the Year Celebration
Come join us for free snacks, hot apple cider, hot chocolate, snow sculptures, fire pit, community gathering, starlit snowshoeing and some holiday cheer!
Our on-site gift shop, the Trading Post, will be open for last minute shoppers.
December Music at Red Light Ramen
This December, let Red Light be your cozy Friday escape! From 6-9 PM every Friday, we’re filling the evening with curated soundscapes to set the perfect tone for the weekend. Our patio is the ideal spot to enjoy the fresh winter air, with heaters to keep you warm and music to soothe your soul. Whether inside or out, it’s all about great vibes and even better tunes. During the height of the Cold War, in the 1950s and 1960s, nearly 50 bunkers were constructed across Canada. In 2017, the Nelson Museum began work on restoring the space and opening it to the public. You can join a tour of one of the Museumʼs best-loved spaces!
