Nelson Museum, Archives & Gallery

The Nelson Museum is an award-winning museum, archives, art gallery, gift shop, and research centre - a must-visit destination! Featuring eight rotating exhibitions from acclaimed artists per year, the gallery always offers something new and intriguing. The Cold War Bunker explores the role of the bunker in the context of the extraordinary worldwide tensions during the height of the Cold War in the 50s and 60s. Visitors can view a Mobile Feeding Unit, ration kits, a Geiger counter and more! The Museum Gift Shop has a wide variety of wares from over 120 local artists representing many different mediums, from pottery to paintings to jewelry. 1902, 1910 - MacDonald, Carrie (S). Showcasing the culture and history of Nelson and district in its museum, archives, and art gallery, the Nelson Museum has previously been home to City Hall and the Post Office. This building was originally pink in colour having been constructed of Spokane pink brick, native brick and Kaslo marble. Note the Richardsonian Arch and turret.
